Crossfire 6950's Flashed to 6970's? - Page 4

Hey, personally i wouldnt unlock the shaders, its not worth the minimal performance boost you get and may lead to problems, I unlocked my shaders using modded original bios, all was fine for a few weeks then:

After uninstalling 11.8 preview drivers my card was not recognised by windows drivers so I got a black screen, even when inserting another card and installing the right drivers I can no longer get display during POST or any of the start-up until my computer enters windows then it displays, even when I run it with the original bios.

So in other words save the headache and just be happy with it.

I got reference cards so no worry

I've never had a problem with my Sapphire 6950 / 6970Mod .
Even has the Bios switch (which I think they all have) but either way I can swap between the default 6950 Bios and the 6970 Bios at the flick of such switch.
Temps are fine no artifacts or glitches, and I love the Sapphire Trixxx program for overclocking it xD. Simple, easy to use, and you can set insane clocks if you reallly want
Core: 200 - 1300
Mem: 1600 - 8000
Fan: Auto, Manual, Custom (You can create your own temp graph for speeds)

i dont wanna hijack this thread or something, but starting my own is kinda pointless with this tread up and going.. Im thinking about ordering two of these puppys: MSI Radeon HD 6950 2GB, and im wondering if the REV 2.0 of those still have the bios switch on em? If i wanted to try to unlock them..

A couples revised cards are able to the switch, but 90% of the time you will end up with a messed up card. Its a needle in the hay-stack situation, don't bother.

Am I right in saying if you flash a 6950 to 6970 bios you wont be able to overclock it as much as a 6950 with just unlocked shaders?
I have seen posts where people have shaders unlocked and can OC to over 940 but I can only reach 890 core stable on 6970 bios.
If so I might just unlock the shaders and remove the 6970 bios.

Check post #4 and then come back here and waste my time some more. Keep reading and see when the cowboy starts changing his tune to the revised cards, which are referred to as wait for it.... non-reference.
