Disappointed with Seasonic X-650 - Page 2

That noise probably isn't the fan. Likely your sample has a poorly secured transformer or mosfet that is vibrating against it's heatsink.

As for the heat in the case, you cannot rely on modern, high-efficiency PSUs to provide case cooling, because they won't. They don't move much of any air except at extreme loads or ambient temps.

I believe Seasonic makes the corsair PSU's some of them anyway. I have the seasonic X750 and its dead quiet efficient and rock solid. By far the best psu I have used...
The high pitched noise might be related to coil whine, which is quite normal. IDK if anybody has answered this, but thought i'd chip in.

No one is reading the thread correctly.

The previous PSU had its fan on all the time, hence exhausting hot air from within the case.

The new one shuts its fan off when the PSU's components themselves are below a certain temperature.

Stationary fan = no movement of air, which led to the heat inside being built up and the heatsink fan having to increase its speed to compensate.

@OP I suggest you check out the FSP Aurum series of power supplies if you want quiet and efficient power supplies with a fan that runs all the time.

The build quality of an Aurum is on par with Seasonic's products, and though the performance of things like ripple suppression and voltage regulation are south of a Seasonic unit's, you can be rest assured that they are well within spec.

Correct.
I still have it on. Still decide what to do. Thinking to change the fan of FSP Aurum, with a quieter one & keep it, is too loud and the air from the back is coming out cold.

Fortron's power thought to be too low to the old ring, decided to add more W for future upgrades too. The fan noise is alright. Processor's fan was at 2200 RPM
X-650 runs at very low speed, sometimes the fan turns off. This made much heat in the case , the processor's fan speed goes beyond 4500 RPM.
Beside the heat, when i remove the side panel to let the air in, the PSU's fan stops, processor's fan speed decreases but a high/sharp and vey annoying noise is coming from the PSU, after a few minutes it stops and again starts..... all the time.
The high pitched sound coming from the PSU is moust likely coil whine like it's mentioned above, i heared it can be fixed by puttin paraffin on the coil....but i guess that would void the warranty. If you bought it recently i'd recommend returning it to the e-tailer and asking your money back. Coil whine is not a functioning issue and the store moust likely won't replace it based on that issue since the PSU works just fine. The problem is common and even the best PSUs get this, i heard plenty of Corsair PSUs having the same issue.

You got unlucky, return it and buy another one from another retailer/e-tailer. I would stick with Seasonic though.

Also if the PSU is causing your CPU cooler problems than i'd blame it on the cooler/case. The case should have enough airflow to the take the heat from the PSU out. Matter of fact if the PSU is mounted on the bottom the hot air from the PSU shouldn't pass at all through the case..... BTW what case exactly do you have? From a Google search there is no PC tower Centurion....

I took a glance at your system specs and i'm wondering why did you even spend so much money on a PSU? Do you intend to replace your parts sometime down the road?

I have got the refund and decided to go for Silent Pro M600, half price compared the x-650 (the same efficiency, half too?).
Other choice was Antec 650 and corsair 650HX, but its fine M600, its enough.
It has good review too. It has 135mm fan, it may help in cooling the case too. Maybe it will be better than the one i have now.
I have replaced the CPU cooler with Arctic Freezer 13 (took me a few minutes, very easy job). Beside the CPU, even the video card temps dropped with 5 degrease. also got a Akasa 120mm Apache Fan, it will go on the side of panel. I like the PC case (mid tower), it slides back the top cover and lift the sides, very clever done.
I was thinking to get a good PSU and when i need more powerful PC, just replace the CPU/Motherboard/Ram/Video card. I just want to play with this one for now.
By the way, when i replaced the cooler I notice that one capacitor on motherboard has some jelly/sticky stuff on it. I cleaned it up, no cracks on it. I would say that it is on its way out, but still working fine. I have a spare 939Dual-SATA2, i will change it if needed.

i think your PSU was defected cause i have seasonic x gold 650 for about half a year now and its great.
see my specs in signature - cpu+gpu are overclocked and the fan of the PSU never turn it self on, the only time i heard fan working was when i installed OCCT and made PSU stress.
