First Water Cooling Build

Thread Starter
I am preparing for my new build and I wanted to go with water cooling for the CPU. I had planned on purchasing the H80, but decided I will just go with a custom loop that I can maintain myself.

I appreciate any suggestions you may have.

*Note: With the case I am getting, I don't know the exact distance between the motherboard and top of the case, but I know a 34mm radiator overlaps the board a bit and could interfere with the heatsinks on my board.

Looks pretty good, everything seems reasonable. I'd recommend at 360 if you can fit it, just because it allows you a bit more room to work with if you ever move over to watering a vga, ram or anything else. You might want to at least look at the XSPC Rasa kits. I feel like it'd be a good one stop shop for less. What case are you getting?

Get a pump top with standard(female) 1/4 fittings. nm u have a combo..

If its your first build I really would go for clear tube so that you can see any air bubbles.

Man, I like that rad would have made the tubing easier in my case.

I was going with white tubing to contrast my case colors. I won't have room for a 360 rad, because the case I am getting is the Corsair 600T SE, the white edition.

Your list is of high quality parts. But I would try to buy them all from the same place, or as few places as possible. Shipping is a pain when buying from 3-4 different places. Plus there is a couple discount codes in the online deals section. 1 for FrozenCPU is pcapex(still works), then are some for jab-tech and performance-pc I believe.

I am not sure about how loud that pump is, but Petra has some amazing gel stuff for sale. I bought some last week and it is some pretty cool stuff. But my not be needed.

And if those fans were not so cheap, I would say give PWM fans a try. But 4 bucks a pop, that is hard to pass up.

Then check out the link in my sig, maybe you can get some good ideas or advice on radiators up top. I am going to buy an 200mm Phobya radiator in a couple days for my 600T

Will do, and I was just looking at that 200mm radiator. I figure if I need it, I can always add that.

After looking very closely, it would seem a 35mm rad at max can fit in there.

I recommend getting the MCP355 pump, which is a bit cheaper and will work fine. I would probably get XSPC's Rasa CPU block and perhaps a RS240 radiator. Also, my preference is smaller, more flexible tubing - 1/2" x 3/4" is hard to work with. One more thing to consider is that the reservoir you picked out can be inconvenient to find a location to place it. That being said, I have one and it works great.

Regarding the Rasa kits... if you can afford a custom loop, that's the route I recommend.

Edit: Also, will you be controlling those fans somehow? 1650RPM would be a bit too loud for me.

I have the 240 Swiftech quiet power, and it fits so tight that I had to clip the 8pin cpu power retainer clip to get it all to fit. But that is just my MOBO.
