Honestly, I think I'd end up feeling like you do, which is the main reason I haven't got this game. Gaming isn't worth it if it's not enjoyable.

You have to read the enemies (all of them) and instantly dodge (spacebar) as soon as you see them swinging at you. Once you play more you will get a feel for the timing and know when they're going to swing at you and you'll already be gone tongue.gif

For the enemies with shields and the ones that block from the front, use aard to knock them off balance and then you can attack them from the front. You can also use the yreden sign to trap them and then hit them in the back with strong attacks. Aard usually works better because it doesn't have a chance to fail like yreden.

For the weaker guys, just use the quick attack and roll away when they try to hit you then roll back in and use quick attacks. Usually not worth wasting vigor on these guys.

If there's multiple enemies it's usually best to roll/run around and try to split the weak opponents from the stronger ones and then kill the weak ones first with hit and run tactics.

Use quen when you know you're at risk of taking damage. It's not normally a good idea to use un-upgraded quen all the time because it stops vigor regeneration. If you're fighting multiple weak opponents quen is usually worth using until they die. Then switch to aard to knock the tougher opponents off guard.

If you're in danger of dieing just run around until you regen full vigor then use quen and then go back to fighting. That way you can use two back to back quens. When those are both gone, just run around until you regen full vigor again.

The Witcher 2 has a very steep learning curve mountain.

Use spells and make sure you have the best weapons and armor possible.

Check blacksmiths and shops for crafting diagrams and make some BA weapons and armor and make sure to enhance everything you can.

Also check out the mysterious merchant if you've got a lot of money. He's got some nice items with plenty of enhancement slots.

Don't forget to equip trophys either. They give nice bonuses to stats as well.

Use a steel sword on humans, use aard to stun for one hit kills. Run around and dodge often, there is also a block using "E" but I find that rather pointless when surrounded.
Also try going for the un armored sword guys first because they can cause you to get hit much more often.

Forgot to mention that using Axii will just get you killed, i never used it in my insane play-through. It's unnecessary.

You can also use yreden to trap the stronger opponents which will help you split the weaker ones away from the main group.

So, I've just finished the witcher (started playing it about 2 weeks ago) last night, and the witcher 2 has been sitting on my steam account since it came out. So my question is, compared to the witcher, how different is the witcher 2?

Yeah me too, exact same experience. Keep going inside this cave outside of Flotsam, like I'm apparently supposed to, but I can't beat the mob of creatures inside. There's too many of them. Frustrated me to no end, so I just quit playing. And any time I want to do potions or spells I have to stop all the action and meditate and all that BS. Screw that. I'll wait for Skyrim if I want to play some non-MMO fantasy.

You need to use bombs against the nekkars in the cave. One bomb will one shot them all except the big leader one (and then he dies with one sword swing).

Bombs in general are ridiculously good until the end of chapter one against anything (especially groups).

Thanks for the sarcasm, but you didn't answer my question. The reason why its been sitting on steam all along was because I wanted to finish the first one before playing the second one, to get a better idea of the story of the game. Besides, I got the withcher 2 wehn it was on special for the summer sale.
