Not really. They're closed cans with a good amount of bass. I would take the PRO 550's over them for gaming. They're probably about equal for music, though.

Just a little update, my budget increased to more like 200 so is there any cans out there that would be noticeably better than a $150 pair (was going to buy the Ultrasone Pro 550's)

Not THAT much better, but better still. Look up the higher end models for Ultrasone such as PRO 650, DJ1 PRO, PRO 750, HFI 2400. Other good ones are Beyerdynamic DT770 80ohm, Shure 840, and Sennheiser HD25-1 II

No, I don't think so. The Sennheiser HD598 is a great headphone, but from reviews, it seems like it needs an amp to really shine. I would say the Audio Technica ATH-AD900's would be awesome, except I think they sell for slightly over $200.

So in conclusion, I think for the money, the PRO 550's won't let you down. You'll have to spend a good chunk above $200 to really see any significant increase in sound quality (HD598 + amp, AD900, Beyerdynamic DT770, etc.).

Ok, well I'm going to stick with the 550's. I've seen pictures of the blue 550's and also pictures of ones that are silver in color. Is there a difference between the two? Where would I buy the silver ones?

I think the differences are simply cosmetic. Check here for the silver model. The reviews of that retailer are pretty good on Google Shopping.

Most retailers carry the recent version which is gray. Mine is gray and I ordered on Amazon early this year.
