Only one way to go: AMD Llano. In that budget you can't fit anything else, and for that matter you may not need anything else. I'll post without links since I'm at work, but a search on the egg is easy enough. So:
1. CPU AMD A6-3650 ~100$
2. Motherboard - something based on socket FM1 ~70$
3. 2x2GB DDR3 1333 ~35$
4. Generic PSU+Case ~40$
5. HDD 1TB Samsung F3 ~50$
6. DVD-Rom, keyboard, rodent - some 30$
_____________________________________and that's the 300$ budget.

If you manage to push it to 400$ I would advice 2 upgrades:
*CPU the A8-3850 which is some 20% faster in games
*A case like the Antec 300 and an Earthwatts 380W PSU - these two things are particularly important for the long term reliability of the rig

A discrete graphics card that is better than the one integrated on the A8-3850 would be the Radeon 6670, but at 80$ that's tough to fit in the budget.

Wait... $300-400 for a computer that can play BF3? Not impossible, but would require some deal snatching. Get todays shell shocker for now, 8GB Ripjaw 1600 RAM for $50 and wait for more deals

I agree with this guy. You can't get much better then an AMD llano at 300-400 dollar budget.

It will allow you to PLAY the games. Your boss will most likely have to hit the setting's at lowest possible, and native res. if your lucky. If your playing games like Combat Arms, Then its not a problem.

AMD Athlon II X2 260 + BIOSTAR A880G+ - $105
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR 1333 CL9 - $27
WD Caviar Blue 500GB - $40
Antec Earthwatts EA-430D - $44
NZXT GAMMA - $36
SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100328VXL Radeon HD 6770 1GB - $120
Total: $371.93 ($351.93 after MIR)

Dual Core running at 3.2, 4GB DDR3 1333 CL9 Memory, 500GB Hard Drive, 6770 1GB, and a high quality case and power supply. All for $371.93 ($351.93 after MIR), can't beat that, you can even overclock the CPU to about 3.6 on the stock cooler at stock voltage and with that cooler on the 6770 you should be able to overclock the graphics card pretty high. If you choose to re-use your case, power supply, and hard drive it comes out to $251.96 ($231.96 after MIR). But your boss is paying for it so I'd just get him all new stuff. You can save another $5 if you get the Athlon II X2 250 and the BIOSTAR A880G+ separately instead of the Athlon II X2 260 in a combo but it's only $5.
