If it's not worth paying full price for you to play online, you're obviously not that interested in the game then....why not just move along to a game that's actually worth full price to you instead of complaining that you can't have the full experience at a bargain-bin price?

That's how its always been........ Same concept as a CD key. With Battlefield 2142 you would never buy a used copy because the key was locked to the account it was first used with. No big deal, stop blowing things out of proportion

I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. Why should you be allowed to use an online service you did not pay for?

You purchased the game used cool you own the disc. You own (the license to) everything on that disc. You can play Frisbee with it, you can install it etc. As long as you don't connect to EA's SERVICE they are not taking a loss. So buy the game used, play off line. Connect to a service online you gotta pay. Simple.

As for the car example everytime you buy a car brand new or used, you always and I mean ALWAYS (in the US) have to pay for the title, registration, etc to be able to drive it on the road. You don't have to pay those fees to keep it in your garage, turn it on in your drive way, etc. But once it touches city/state streets you better have paid those fees.

This is no different than that. Buy a used car(game) and if you want to drive(play) it on state/city roads (EA's server list online [when you connect online the first person you go through is EA, not that game's server]), then you gotta pay for the registration[a title fee works better since it's not recurring] (pass).

usually the ability to play online is part of the disc, therefore i should be able to play online. this is just a way to hurt used game sales and mom and pops stores who sell used games because it "hurts" ea. they believe that somebody buying a used game is a lost sale, but most people i know who buy used games would never have bought them at launch for full price(which is mainly at launch time, which is when the sales matter) mainly because of the price and not being interested enough to actually buy the game anyway. i bought SSFIV for full price and i loved it. i wasn't going to buy mortal kombat 9 because i feel that the price isnt justifiable and i wont bother getting the game used because the price of the used game + the 10$ fee to play online (which is crap by the way, i've tried it at my friends house) brings it up to the price of the game brand new, which i didnt want to pay. the only thing this pass to play online stuff does is give game companies a slice of the used game market (potentially, users still have to decide to actually get the pass and for some games it might not be worth it, but for bf3 if you arent getting it for multiplayer you are doing it wrong, therefore ea is guaranteed 10 bucks from every used game sale. for mortal kombat the dev isnt because the game's online is crap however it has a very robust singleplayer campaign/challenge mode) and it hurts mom and pops stores.
