Oops i forgot to mention, The fiber is being laid by a Non-Profit PUD group (NoaNet) , which would be Really good price-wise, if it weren't for the fact that Washington Law won't let them sell directly to the consumer......

Greedy ISPs Lobbied for that law no doubt

I switch from Verzion DSL to Time Warner Cable. so.. 3MB to 15MB (Boost) upgrade for $29.99 ($38.99 for my last Verzion DSL statement)

So far i'm getting 33mbps during boost spike, and average to 15mbps-20mbps on steady download..

still way above the advertised speed they have of 15mbps, so far i'm happy

only down side is that my upload is horrible.. only .45mbps

From Speakeasy Speed Test
Last Result:
Download Speed: 25703 kbps (3212.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 490 kbps (61.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Interesting that cablevision scored so high. Someone mentioned it though - peak hours on the standard package just give up. I had nothing but negative experiences with cablevision/optimum online.

I had Verizon DSL which while slow was obviously always capping out.

I'm on FIOS now and on a 20mb package normally hitting 25mb - even during some peak hours.

WOW you gotta love those FTTC connections with the symmetrical uploads!!!

A lot of you down in the states seem to get screwed though. This is what I get with my DOCSIS cable connection prime time Saturday evening

Outside primetime I get about 30Mbit down bursted with a constant 25mbit and that's my package.

Like other people in this thread I've noticed that I get speeds of around 20mpbs on a 15mbps plan. Thank you verizon.
