Help hitting 5.0 stable on air?

Thread Starter
OK, so I currently have my SigRig running at 4.7GHz stable. It was running at 4.8GHz and was stable for 24 hours of Prime95, but after 3 days of folding it would BSOD. I rebooted and tried again, same thing, 3-4 days later BOSD. I really want to hit 5GHz and be stable enough to fold 24/7 but I'm not sure how to proceed.

When I get home tonight I'll post all my current bios settings, but the question came to mind: If I lower my multiplier to 37 and increased my bclock to say 133 would it be more stable? Right now I have my bclock at 100.1 and my multiplier at 47. Just wondering if this would be possible or had any chance of working? Thanks all!!

EDIT: For some reason I thought I remembered hearing that the SB processors don't respond well to changes in bclock, but I'm not sure...

Moved to Intel CPUs
I'm not familiar with the platform so I can't answer your question, sorry.

What Vcore do you need for 4.8GHz?

Very few of these CPU's will be stable at 5GHz on air-cooling. It's the luck of the draw with these CPU's. Some will need 1.45v Vcore to reach 5GHz and be stable, which would be possible to cool with that Hyper 212 +. Others will need the same Vcore for 4.7GHz.

So it's all about how much Vcore it will need.

And no, increasing the BCLK and lowering the multiplier to reach the same frequency will not help. It is adviced to keep it at 100MHz, and just up the multiplier.

My VCore is at 1.43 right now (stable at 4.7GHz), I'll try running it up a little (maybe 1.47) to see if I can get 5GHz. I know I could boot and so a suicide run at 5.0GHz with my VCore at 1.45 but I wasn't sure if I should keep pushing it or not. Right now my temps are good, i'm only hitting a max of 65C folding 24/7, so I'm not too worried about the temps. I ran the chip at 4.1 on the stock cooler w/ temps of about 74C for 2 months folding 24/7 with no issues.

I'll try pushing the VCore up and see what I get. Thanks for the help!

EDIT: Also, thanks for answering the multiplie/Bclock question!

what are your temps at 4.7ghz with 1.43v in prime blend?

1.43v Vcore at full load is nearing the limit for what a CM Hyper 212+ can handle at full Prime95 load.

that's what I was thinking, however, 65c folding is pretty good.

i get 76C @ 4.6Ghz @1.35VCore i got a bad CPU since i cant even get 4.7 Stable@1.40VCore

also can u tell me ur laod temps under prime blend
post #10 of 14
Around 4.7+ most of the SB chips start to get voltage hungry.
mine needs:
4.6 @ 1.315
4.8 @ 1.385
5.0 @ 1.490
The heat I get for the extra 200mhz isn't worth being 24/7able.
Also more RAM you have, it seems that cpu needs more vcore.
