MSI P67A-G43 Adjust CPU Ratio - Stuck at 41 multiplier

Thread Starter
I am feeling kinda dumb to ask this question, but I don't seem to be able to raise the multiplier higher than 41 under the "Adjust CPU Ratio" settings.

Now I have read several posts where people use the same motherboard with multipliers of 44, 45 etc, so it must be possible.

Could someone please point me towards the obvious? Thanks.

You should just be able to type in any multi you want. What happens if you type in a multi above 41?

Hmm, it won't let me type any multiplier I want. In fact, when I select the adjust cpu ratio option, a window pops up and all I can do is choose a multiplier from a pre-populated list. The highest multiplier on that list is "41" and it is highlighted in red.

Any ideas?

First of all, in your sig, do you have an i5-2500 or an i5-2500K?

If you have a K, did you try scrolling down in the UEFI's dropdown list?

Oh my, I just realized I didn't buy an i5-2500k as intended but an i5-2500 instead. Apparently you cannot increase the multiplier on the regular 2500 as high as you can with a 2500k.

2500 have a "limited" unlocked multiplier so it can OC with four multiplier (CPU bins) above default + turbo, for 2500 that will be for four cores active 3,8GHz and up to 4,1 with only one core active.

Gawd, I was so sure I had picked a 2500k I did not even check the chip when it arrived

That stinks. Is there any way for you to do an exchange without incurring a restocking fee or other expense? Will they even let you exchange a non-defective CPU?

Worst case scenario if you still want a K would be to put the non-K chip on eBay and just take a minor loss.

Somewhat happy ending...I spoke to Newegg and they will let me RMA the 2500 and credit my account, so I can get the 2500k that I should have gotten in the first place.

Thanks for the help.
