Because im space limited and i need as much power as i can cram into a small space, 470 > HD5850.

depends on who you talk to. For me I could do either, but for my friends dad installing/overclocking a GPu would be like him speaking french, et il ne peux pas parles le francais. But he can install nitrous.

Actually there was a thread not long ago where an overclocked GTX 470 beat an overclocked HD6970 in more than 1 game and in others came very close. The HD5xxx series have no chance against Fermis.

Thats what i wanted to hear. The GTX 580 smokes a HD6970 by an enormous amount, and the 480 is 10% slower than 580, and the 470 is close to the 480, with a nice 200mhz OC it should be near or higher than 480 speeds.

I know its only HWcompare, but the 480 wins at everything besides texel, where the 5000 series shines, my 5850 probobly has better texel than a 480.

I agree with the second half of this thread.

Sorry for posting that, but it really pisses me off, and I had to finally say something..

Sorry, I don't trust that site at all. There are only a few sites that I trust now. I have read too much about paid reviews not too mention inside info I have had in the past.

If you have patience to check all the 30 pages you'll find some surprising results.

Just one of them on the first page:

Metro 2033: @ 1080p

compudaze ---- i7 2500K @ 5.1GHz ---- CFX HD 6950 Unlocked (1000/1450) ---- 88.46 FPS

BallaTheFeared ---- i5-2500k @ 5.2GHz ---- SLI GTX 470 (900/1750/2100) ---- 86.03 FPS

Think about it, GTX 470 @ 800-825MHz = GTX 570 stock performance which is more or less on par with an HD6970. At 900MHz we're talking HD6970 overclocked performance.
We can all agree that HD5850 OC or 5870 OC have no chance of reaching HD6970 OC, especially in tesselation heavy games.
