I think he is using a 22" monitor, so only 1680x1050 resolution. 1GB should be just fine for that I think. Above that, then I would personally prefer something with higher vram since it looks like the OP has extended upgrade periods. If OP plans on getting a new monitor in the relative near future something like the 2GB 6950 or a 1.28GB GTX 570 might not be a bad idea.

Not really related to the thread, or OP's question but:

Will Crossfiring 2 6850s be fine if I wanted to get a 24" monitor? I'm getting a second 6850 within a week to be a stopgap till the 7000 series comes out with some non-reference models, and paying $500 for a 580 seems a little crazy when I can get very similar performance for $150 with a second 6850.

Yes, two 6850s should be fine. Especially considering the price, you can't go wrong.

Agree. Specially if you are counting that I was playing most games on high on a 24" monitor with a 4870 512MB

I'm selling one with the majority of its warranty and a nice Twin frozr II cooler for 205 in the OCN marketplace.. I would drop that to 200 if it would mean a sale

warranty is serial based as well.. no hassle for RMAs and whatnot.

I haven't seen any good deals since I brought this card. Wanted to the upgrade this weekend. Thinking I'll stick with what I have and keep looking for a open box/cheaper 560ti and I'll sli it later. I do plan to get a 24 monitor next month. I just wanted to upgrade my video card first.

The 2gig 6950 are closer to the 300 dollar price than they are to the 200 one. I actually started out looking for something closer to 100 and realized I wasn't going to get much for my money at that price point (460 gtx). So I decided to stick with the 560ti after you guys warned me about the normal 560.

When I get my second 560ti depends on when newegg has one open box.
