back to school sale has this OCZ ssd im not wanting to compare it to the latest and the greatest im just wondering qualilty wise.

It uses SF controller but have they found a way to reliably fix this problem. I was going to buy a curcial m4 but this is like almost $80 cheaper.

Are you using an Intel motherboard?

If so, stay away. OCZ is blaming Intel for the issues and have been trying to "work around" them.

OCZ won't release proof of it. The support team just says it on their forums.

There's a reason it's $80 cheaper. It claims faster speeds but the drive doesn't live up to them. People have a lot of problems with the Solid 3 drives. I'd get the Crucial M4, Crucial C300, Intel 510, Corsair Force 3, Corsair Force GT, or Kingston HyperX.

I just bought a OCZ vertex 3 Max IOPS, with firmware 2.0.8 loaded on it and it works great. My windows takes litterally 5 seconds to load up. Bios takes longer than it. Idk about this particular drive, if you want something good imo just get the max iops version of the vertex 3. no BSOD so far.

The OCZ Vertex 3 is a good drive, but the Solid 3 is full of problems. Just read the reviews on newegg or search Solid 3 here on OCN or the OCZ forums.

yeah i have a crucial m4 in my wishlist on newegg just saw this for a lot cheaper just wanted to know if the tradeoff in quality was substantial. I think ill stick with the m4 seeing as OCZ has a bad rep already and you say that the solid 3 has problems

The only drives on that list that have no problems are the Crucial & Intel all the other drives use the sandforce controller the same as the Solid 3 so they will have the same problems, just check out Corsair's forum if you don't belive me.
