Water Water Water Questions ?

Ok guys am building my water cooling system and really can't make my mind up on the water to use I heard Distilled or De-ionised Water is the best and I need some kind of a Silver Kill Coil in their well I was looking at this item online: http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...pid-12439.html designed to protect your watercooling system from all kinds of algae or bacteria, in short micro-organisms
will this do also rather then the kill coil ? what about Premix UV Coolants - Non Conductive some say they have things already mixed in them so you don't need the kill coil or anything is this true ?

1) The product you linked to is liquid biocide, which is an alternative to a kill coil. You have a choice of either though personally I prefer a silver kill coil.

2) Yes, the premixes generally come pre-mixed, hence the name, with biocides, anti-corrosive additives, and antifreeze. In which case you would not need to use a kill coil, but it would not do any harm to have one in your loop anyways.

Some reads for you:

Why you generally should avoid UV/dye coolant http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...yes-water.html

I'm also wondering where the killcoil actually goes. So that little piece of silver is flowing through the pipes or does it sit in the res?

Usually it sits in the reservoir, it would be too large to flow through barbs, fittings etc.

Nope. It just sits in the reservoir.

Nah, if you just drop it into the reservoir I think it'll be too heavy to flow with the water and if it does it won't fit through the barbs or anything going to the pump/etc.

Yeah man. Just get some distilled water (better than deonized as I've read) and put some of those silver coils you linked. (If you have a big loop with multiple graphics cards, radiators and such use 2-3. It says use 2 coils per 1 litre of fluid)
