2600k running 80c

Hi guys,

I was playing some bc2 today as suddenly i heard like wind blowing hard against the window. I heard at the pc but it seemed it came from outside But it didnt , it came from my pc... Its like my pc is yelling? :S
THn i checked my temperature and the cpu was running to 80degrees C!!
The max of my temperature was like 70 while full loaded.

Its very hot here inside too.. Is it time for me to get a new cooler urgently ?
I think so.. And if you guys will tell me the h70 isnt worth the price should i go for the HD14?

My price range will be around 100€, All the systems specs are below here , everything at stock speeds.

Thanks!

The H70 is worth it IMO..

I have an H50 and it was well worth the money. My 2500k @ 4.5Ghz / 1.29 vcore runs at 34*-36* Idle and 58-60 Max Load.

If your budget is around 100€ thats what about $140ish? I would say your best bet would be the H100, most places have them in stock by now, and the reviews/performance seems really positive.

However the HD14 is a great choice as well, it just really depends on if you want to go with water or air.. Personally I'd go for the H100. I Had the H50 for a while before switching to a real loop, and it would keep my 1090T extremely cool, even a 4.0ghz. I can imagine the H100 being amazing.

I can attest to the D14 working well especially with hot ambients, i live in New Mexico and my room can get to around 75-80 degrees on hot days even with the AC going.

Playing bc2 my chip never breaks 70c. Its worth it man, i had the H70 prior to the D14 and it was not cutting it, temps would reach 80c on hot days playing bc2, and prime was just a joke on how hot it would get.

The d14 does a lot better with hot ambients.

Thanks for your answer ,yes id prefer to go for a custom loop too but can afford it atm.. But i just wanted to know if its dangerous keeping that cpu at these temps? I think it is as they always told me to keep it below 80..

I presume that you are using the stock cooler, why not invest in a CM 212+, it should help lower temps and you should be able to achieve a moderate overclock and keep the temps in check with that cooler. Unless your going for something above 4.5ghz the 212+ will suffice and won't hurt your wallet.

I would suggest CoolerMaster 212+ or Scythe Mugen 3 for budget purposes. Otherwise the D14 or H100 for higher-end cooling. If you don't mind maintaining a water loop, then maybe the XSPC RS240 kit would be your best bet, you can reach 4.5-5ghz while keeping good temps.

There's nothing wrong with 80c dude, relax. These chios won't even begin to throttle themselves until 98c which is the max temp. Of course I would go with a decent cooler anyway but you aren't hurting your chip at 80c...

yea yea for the time now its ok.. Wont stay to that temp for any longer.
And about oc.. I cant oc yet , I need to rma my board first.. :S
