I think the keyword being "most", with the exception of an entire expansion or two

Too bad people caught onto MoP almost half a year ago when the copyright document was published.

Chen Stormstout says hi from 2002.

Edit: Also, even these were in WoW a LONG time ago.

In the Q&A lore panel, they explain that Didier first created the Pandaren by experimenting drawing bipod pandas, and while they were a joke before, in the upcoming xpac they have an expansive background. They reiterated that while the xpac would be of a lighter tone, it would not be a joke. Christ Metzen reiterated that they would not make an expansion of an April Fools joke. Just found that important to state here. Lots of the things currently in WoW could have been perceived as "jokes" had they not been there originally.

It wasn't officially announced yet so they were completely honest in their statement that "Most of the time" when they've done anything panda related it's been a joke. (Just like AMD promoting Bulldozers performance when we had benchmarks showing otherwise before it's release)

The part I find real funny is this thread was originally made on August 02 linking to an article about Blizzard filing the trademark. Two months and three weeks isn't a half a year on my calendar.

So other than people posting saying their quitting and people who don't know the lore, what is everyone else's opinion?

I like the idea of no protagonist and simply an Alliance vs Horde conflict to begin. Along with all the hinting from the lore Q&A like Illidans possible return and that the Shards of Frostmourne were collected by someone makes me think the expansion could be interesting.

With this being the second to last expansion, they're leaving quite a bit of things to do without leaving big holes in the lore. Are we going to kill the remaining Old Gods, put an end to the Burning Legion, discover more about the Titans or countless other things?

Pandaren were always the April Fool's joke.

This entire expansion looks like an enormous gimmick...but the game has gotten so tired at this point that why the hell not, do Pandas.

I used to play wow got tO 85 on a warrior got fed up of them raising the cap! Can't they think of something better to raid like spell levels? Epic quest lines for better spells etc? I doubt I will start playing again another expansion means a week of levelling and half a year of trying to find a decent guild to raId with haha

1. No, they weren't.
2. You haven't seen the actual panel presentation of it if you think it's a "gimmick". It's not.

Another great example of people ignoring all the facts around them and stubbornly sticking to their own unsupported theory.

Let me try one more time (probably in vain):

Pandaren have existed in Warcraft before WoW.
There was one April Fools joke about them.
Blizzard explicitly states that this xpac will not be an April Fools joke, that they've mapped the history of the Pandaren back to the Sundering, and that the storyline will only be slightly lighter in tone than the previous.

QUOTE by Christ Metzen:
"Theres no way we'd build a WoW expansion about an April Fool's joke."
From a much longer an in-depth Q&A

This whole "Blizzard getting jealous/desperate/stupid" response is a knee-jerk reaction.

Where are you getting that? They've shown no signs of this being the case. They mentioned that they expect to go further into the Titans (and by extension the Burning Legion story), most definitely the Old Gods, and probably still the Emerald Dream.

Is it really that hard to level for a week in a completely newly designed zone? lol
