Suggestions for my first desktop DAC

Thread Starter
For a while now I've been wanting to enhance my audio experience so I've been looking at audio cards and until recently DACs too.

I've decided it would be better to get an USB/Optical DAC so I wouldn't need worry about PCI/PCI-E slot placement and be able to enhance my PS3 audio as well.

I've been looking at theFiio E7+E9 combo bah no optical support and The Maverick Audio TubeMagic DAC. My budget is around the 200~250 price range.

I listen to a very wide range of music, from Classical to Rock/Electronic to Rap.

if your willing to drop that much $$$$ then just buy a full on sound card; like this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829132019

and according to your sig specs there should be tons of room and not a single hassle

Or he can get better sound quality with an external DAC ^.

I was looking myself at the tubemagic but ended up going all out for the Dac Magic and not looking back .

My 2nd GTX 470 kills off the use of the PCI slot and it's the same problem when I get my Asus Formula V board in a couple of days. I could get the PCI-E version though.

Schiit Audio Bifrost. Has a great potential. Very future proof. Read about it at Schiit's site. If you're looking for a less expensive (not cheaper) alternative, get the Maverick Audio D1 or the Cambridge Audio DACMagic.
