Computer Randomly Shuts Off

Thread Starter
Not sure if this is a PSU related issue. I've never had a problem with my computer shutting down on me randomly. It isn't heat related since my core-temp was at 52C while playing Shift 2, and my GPU was at 70C so I'm not sure where the source of the problem is.

It is the 2nd time that it has happened today. Once it turned off on its own just sitting on the desktop while I wasn't even on it, and then just 5 mins ago when I was playing a game.

Not sure if this is PSU related, or outlet related, since I have had problems in this room with PC's shutting off cause of the circuit. It is as if someone just takes my power cord and unplugs it. Can't be too good for the HDD lol. I do know that my Ultra PSU sucks majorly, but I'm not sure if I'd point fingers to it just yet.

I would definitely blame that Ultra PSU. They don't make very quality units. Even if you aren't pulling much power, the PSU can cause that cause I can guarantee that thing isn't even close to a 750W Power supply. Do you have any other power supplies lying around? Even a GOOD 400W would be plenty for you

If you need a new one, get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=antec%20430 That's an amazing deal right now for that power supply. I might pick one up for myself

My friend has a modular silverstone 1000w psu that he doesn't use and would be willing to give it to me for about 70 bucks when he paid $190 2 years ago. I know its overkill, but its my friend, and its modular lol

I had the same problem too 3 days ago. The shutdown issue happened when I bought my Kingston Hyper X 8GB and replaced my old OCZ 4GB. While I was playing HAWX with max settings the system shuts down as if somebody unplugged the power cord. I tried stressing the system with linpack after 10-15 mins shuts off again. I decided to put back my old OCZ and bam no more shutdown issue, so I guess one of the RAM sticks went bad or maybe DOA. I'm not sure if we have the same issue but I'm just sharing my experience.

Oh wow, that is a great deal, I would jump on that. Even if its not your problem I would still do it. If not, ask him if he wants to sell it to me.
