will 5ghz hurt cpu?

Thread Starter
I have a 2500k and it an h50. What I wanna do is just get a screen shot of 5ghz in cpuz. If I just bump my vcore to 1.5 , boot into windows and get a quick screenshot could it hurt my cpu?

Nope. That happens nearly every single day here on OCN.

I think most people here would consider that to be a wimpy suicide run.

No it wont, how many threads did you open lol?
If its all in regards to the same chip then there aint no reason to open several threads.

Edit: try for higher clocks, I run my chip at 5.1ghz 24/7 lol check out my 5.65ghz run

How is high vcore dangerous? Is it the because of high temp at high clocks or the voltage is killing the chip on its own?

its both the temps created that will burn the chip, and the fact that the circuitry can only handle so much before it "snaps".

I wouldn't run it at 5GHz all the time at 1.5Vcore due to the fact you more then likely will be running the chip rather hot, not to mention the added stress to the circuits due to the increased flow of electrons allow you to reach this faster speed.

Check the temps as i'm fairly certain an H50 isn't designed for that high tdp that a chip at 1.5V produces (constant full load that is)

Doing it for a screen shot or a quick benchmark should be fine, but prolonged use will degrade the chip and potentially shorten its lifespan.,

Eh, I'm no electrical engineer so I cannot give you the details. But it has something to do with atoms and electrons... etc..

For a long period of time, it can degrade the CPU./

It's the 2500K... come on. I mean, it's only 5GHz. It's not like he's trying to do a suicide run of 6GHz or something.
