Thread Starter
i know most people hate these threads that involve stuff that isnt out, but

should i keep my i7 920 that runs at 4.2 at 1.4v and upgrade my motherboard to something like a classified 3 with a little more power and features? ive heard that with a good board you can get lower voltages and more stable overclocks

or should i save for ivy bridge and just rebuild the whole thing this winter?

It's not all dependent on the motherboard, it's based on the chip too.

So in a sense, upgrading your motherboard may or may not help you get lower voltages with your chip.

With that being said, they both play a big role in OC'ing capabilities.

EDIT - I love my Sandy Bridge setup, personally, I don't think I will be upgrading to Ivy when it comes out, however, if it's THAT much of an upgrade I just might. My 2500k does everything I need to it to do and more, so I guess either way you go, you'll be a happy camper if your not satisfied with your current setup.

I would just keep what you have for now. Plenty of power at the moment.

Ivy Bridge. I think that it would just be a waste of money to upgrade something that is almost if not already outdated.
