my two ddr2 667mhz dont work together but work separately why? - Page 2

Hello, sorry if i shouldnt post it here, but i see you have here similar problem as me and i dont know if it has same solution. So, i have bought new RAM KHX1600C9D3B1/4G , it is functional after i set up in BIOS DIMM frequency to 1600,becouse if its not pc wont start, but its not the main problem ( i think ) , i have the second RAM KHX1800C9D3/2G its working fine for one year, but these two rams are not working together, working on it whole day but without some result. from start i had there blue screen, after some 4 hours of trying it has already started but some stripes appeared and it has turned off with blue screen. Dont know what to do, ill be very happy if you help me.

1st RAM (old) : KHX1800C9D3/2G
2nd RAM (new) : KHX1600C9D3B1/4G
Motherboard : Asus M4A77TD PRO

Well, first off can you see the timings and voltages on the sticker, it's on the side of the ram stick.

Looks like thats DDR3 memory. So what you'll need to do, if at all possible, is to set the timings of the slowest ram.
The slowest ram will have the highest numbers.
You'll need to enter the bios (hit the delete button when booting up), and find the memory settings, change to manual, instead of Auto, then find the timings, and set accordingly.

It could be 8-8-8-24 2N
The voltage should also be printed on that sticker.
Manually set the DIMM voltage to 1.65v

If that wont boot up, change the timings to 9-9-9-24 2N
Try to boot up again.
If that wont boot, try timings of 9-10-9-26 2N

Now this is no promise that your different memory will work together, and because of the problems your already having, they may not work together. But you can still try!

Good luck

Well great, glad you getting there!

If you still have problems, and need to go in and loosen timings they are: if they are 8-8-8-24 2N

CAS-CL - 8
tRCD - 8
tRP - 8
tRAS - 24

Comand Rate (CR) - 2N

Then what ever they are stock, you can start by loosening then up by 1 each, ie: 9-9-9-24 2N
9-10-9-26 2N

Good work.

What is your processor, Fritol_SVK?
There may be a problem concerning the integrated memory controller of your chip. If it is a C2 revision Phenom II, you won't be able to run 4 DIMMs at 1600Mhz. Otherwise, try increasing your CPU-NB voltage to enhance stability with 4 DIMMs. Having DIMMs with totally different ratings definitely doesn't help though, there's a chance it may never work together.
