only 2.0 channel headphones exist?
why?
because there's two cups (on every headphone), you cant have 5 earphones around your head.

You can have 3/4 drivers in each cup, but it sounds horrible. This headset uses virtual surround, which is still far from necessary, and attainable through other means with much higher quality headphones.

For an audiophile I can't believe you don't know this.

They jam a ton of cheap drivers right next to your head and call is surround sound and charge you a ton of money. It basically sounds like muddled crap.

The simulated surround done by my ad700's sounds perfect to me.

Hate to admit it but I've never even worn a 5.1 or whatever channel headset, because I don't want to (lol)
I just don't think it quite works that way (5.1, etc) because of the way the rear channel hits your pinna (from behind). When all the headphones I've worn are directly on or slightly tilted when placed on your ears.

With a good sound card and a good quality set of cans, standard 2.0/2.1 headphones will do surround sound quite well if you set everything to 5.1 in games, your sound card will do the hard yards, this affects positional sound mostly. CMSS-3D for example, but I don't even use that.

Buy yourself a pair of AD700s.

Best investment you can make for FPS gaming.

Throw in a zalman clip on mic.
