What is the cheapest processor that WONT bottleneck a GTX 480? - Page 3

Hmmm, cheapest...I was going to say I5 760 but I see that it has more or less the same price as an I5 2500K.

However if you buy a high end card like that I would go with an I7 to really max out its potential. There's the I7 960 for $285 and I7 2600K for $315 on newegg.

There's no bottleneck...
There'd only be a bottle neck if you were running an Athlon x2, or a >E8x00

On my system, I don't observe any bottlenecks at all, at 1080 gaming, though I've been told that my CPU sucks smile.gif

CPU Bottle necking is blown way out of proportion. If you are running a high end Crossfire/SLI setup at 1600, I can see processors being somewhat an issue, but really, at those high resolutions, you are more GPU bound than CPU.

I think you're system will do just fine. The only apps where you'll probably feel slow is in synthetic benchmarks like 3d Mark. In regular games, you'll be hard pressed to find a difference, unless you're into hard core RTS games, where CPUs make a huge difference.
