Hi, I am new to OCN, and I want to ask for your opinions on what should be my next upgrade.

I have an i7 960 stock with x58 sabertooth with a MSI Lightning Xtreme GTX 580 with 6Gb RAM. I plan to get a GTX 580 to Sli arnd the time when BF3 comes, but I am afraid my CPU will bottleneck it.

So, I was wondering if I should get a the new SB combo (mobo + CPU+ SSD + windows cos mine was OEM + RAM +Cooler) which will take about until the end of the year) or just get another GTX 580 3Gb for SLI and another 6Gb of RAM as mine seems to be running out, usually reaching 80%.

If your CPU overclocked you most likely won't see a bottleneck. with the default 3.2 GHz you might see some but not too serious.
IMO 960 is still pretty solid. why change it? The performance difference between SB & i7 960 doesn't judge the cost.
You will see a bigger jump once you go SLI. Games such as Metro2033/ Crysis 1/2 are GPU limited. your GTX 580 is the bottleneck there. since these games relay heavily in GPU power. And when they are maxed out a single 580 won't cut it very much in them. But IMO your i7 960 is perfectly fine. & I highly doubt BF3 will eat your CPUs power 100%.

GTX 580 Sli looks like a better choice, then save up for a Sandy Bridge mobo combo + Ivy bridge.

I can't see there being a bottleneck on your x58 system provide you have your processor overclocked to at least 3.8Ghz. If I were you, I'd pick up another GTX 580 and call it a day. The performance increase/difference for gaming between the x58 and SB right now isn't even noticable, its mainly benchmarking and bragging rights.

Get a girlfriend, buy her some lingerie. OR, just grab another 580. X58 is fine, probably until intels next bridge goes up.

Upgrade ur CPU cooler, overclock to 3.8ghz. Problem solved. As far as getting a 2nd 580, maybe wait till bf3 comes out. One, the gtx580 might be cheaper. Two, one 580 might be enough. Consider a sound card if ur running onboard. The clarity and level of loudness overall quality cannot be compared. Nice, speakers or headphones as well. U also love one large monitor vs multiple screens. Its easier to run and u don't have the bezels in th wattse way. Ur cpu, mobo, ram is fine. Ur psu needs to be at least 1000 Watts for dual 580 especially if u want everything overclocked.

Haha, relax, my gf has more than enough lingerie that she can handle.

Btw does Sli help Autocadding/Sketchup/anything else in anyway at all?
