"Out of Range" Error

I have a computer here at work that runs fine all day using 1024x768 at 60Hz. The monitor works perfectly fine all day. No issues when the client comes back from lunch and boots it up from screensaver either.

However, every morning when he gets to work, the monitor displays an "Out of Range" error. The only way (I've found) to fix this is to reboot the computer. Then it works fine and looks like it did the day before.

Anyone have any clue?

This means when the resolution is to high.
If the g.card (somehow) wants to run (randomly) at e.g. 1280x1020x75Hz and the display can`t handle these resolution the display will show that "out of range" message.
This is what is causing the message. Maybe you should check the resolution in the driver setting and if there are any BIOS options for the g.card.

this happens alot on our gateway business class pc's. Are these computer connected to a business network or are they just log in?

I doubt that it's changing resolution of it's own volition overnight, unless someone has set it to, of course. Although "Out of Range" can be caused by anything the monitor can't support - be it res (too high or too low) refresh rate (again, too high or too low) or sync frequencies...

this, or it could be a simple hibernation issue if it is a networked computer. Most likely it is an intel driver issue that is causing the issue. re-intstall the intel driver and see if this fixes the issue.

He could also turn off the screen saver all together and just tell her to windows+L to lock the computer and see if this fixes the issue and work from there

Nice suggestions! Thanks a lot. I will try them and see if it works.

I don't like having to shut the screensaver off as I like it when it will automatically lock if they are away from their PC for an extended period of time. However, this doesn't appear to be the problem because the screensaver goes on and off throughout the day. For example, when the client leaves for an hour lunch every day. The monitor also shuts off during this time and it works fine when getting back.

It could possibly be a driver issue? The computer has integrated graphics (HP 500B desktop) so I will have to find a recent driver for it I suppose. I guess this will be my irst step.
