Any particular reason as to why?

I think its pretty even here. AMD guys will vote for 6970 and us nvidia guys will vote for the 580 3gb. If you plan on going multiple monitors at all, I think the 580's will do better, but if not, the 6970 will do fine.

Ask around about ati drivers. I have never went ati, nor do I plan to, but I always hear something about those drivers.

I'm already running 5670 x 1080, its to replace the struggling 560 Tis. I wish it wasn't more split and that there was a more clear cut winner, but i guess thats what happens with fanbois and close benchmarks.

I guess I should factor in the fact I'll be having essentially 400$ in hand from my 560 Ti sales, so its not as monumental in cost as I am looking at it.

Basically, I stopped asking about it a long time ago. I might come off as an nvidia fan boy, but if ati steps their game up I would consider them, and I have in the past.

For me, I'd rather spend the extra money for an nvidia card. I'm not worried about price to performance, I just want performance. Unfortunately, any high end video card already comes off as crazy expensive, so I might sound like a tool to many.

Nah you don't come off across as a tool. Usually it isn't this big or that long of a decision, but at the same time i normally haven't spent this much on a pair of gpus ever. I want to avoid buyers remorse and hopefully use whatever i buy for a year to come with no slow downs

Well if you end up going with nvidia, and skipping keplar like you said, I think maxwell is scheduled a good two more years down the road and according to nvidias chart, is supposed to have a massive leap in performance verse keplar. That's my next gpu upgrade, and probably a whole new system at that point.

No idea what ati plans are, but Since you already have a triple monitor setup, I would see if you cant find some 6970 and 580 3gb reviews on a triple monitor setup and see how each performs. That's probably the best thing you can do to assist in your decision.

2x 6970 if you care about your wallet. 2x 3gb 580 if you dont. Either setup should give you some great results.

Drivers are basically a non-issue for both sides as far as I'm concerned.

That's the thing, it seems rather hard to find (at all) 580 3GB sli vs 6970 2gb xfire at 5670 x 1080 reviews to make this a whole lot easier

You didn't look hard enough.

The right answer is HD 6970s in CFX.

Why the hell is this thread 3 pages long? Idiots.
