Is your Fermi Crying? - Page 2

Mine always do that especially running F@H or other stressing programs.
It also did it in Crysis 2 (something new didn't happen before) and crashed with a driver error therafter. I was only running it @ 732/1464/1674. this card give me so much trouble overclocking it.

My 8800GTX's do it. Especially at 675 core with the voltage at 1.35, It's nothing to worry about. Just the VRM's working their tiny little buts off to keep things nice and steady voltage wise.

Mine also, always while folding and only very occasionally while gaming. Both my 465 and 470 do it (one air, one water). Even the 465 twin frozr with its SSC, and arguably the best power regulation squeals just as loud. Oddly enough, my old sapphire 5870 was quieter.

If you have F@H running and you change the clock frequency, the pitch of the squeal also changes, well it does for me.

My 295 squeals in Minecraft. Not a clue on earth why, but that is the only game I have played so far that makes it do that with stock settings and no minecraft mods.

Mine starts screaming also when i start GTA IV, but i have HD 6950.

Is that a sign that the card is bad?

My 9800gt would do the same thing, and it is still kicking.

Isn't this squealing PSU fault and not gpu?

Some parts of psu use non-solid capacitors, also coils, that can squeal at full load..

Modular PSU's use a separate mini pcb board for modular part and on that pcb they go cheap and put non-solid capacitors (usually, unless its top high end)..even on better brands, like Corsair HX models.

Only when folding do mine whine, not matter what the clocks are. In everything else they don't.

Mine squeals when folding. The first time I heard it I thought for sure I killed my cards ! But found out it is normal for them to do so under heavy load.

No, it is 'squealing', which means the ATI card next door paid a visit to it..and...(leaves it up to imagination - could be more elaborate but saw the 'infractors' pattrolling)....

Just a friendly joke ! don't make it a flame war !
