There's no need to format your comp, just do a very thorough scan for viruses, stay off the internet, find out where the transaction leads to, call the police. AND delete this thread, this is OCN and probably a home to some skilled hackers, you do NOT want to risk yourself getting hacked.

No need to format? What if he's not advanced? I also stated there are advanced viruses that antiviruses can't detect, so your suggestion is way off, thinking your safe because you ran an AV scan is a joke. If he's already infected, most banking trojans have rootkits (like zeus\\spyeye), that's to name a few, to OP, format your computer and hope for the best, just be careful after the format.

yes i would reformat because it has happened to me as my visa debit details got hacked they stole $3000 out of my bank when i was saving for a car and only got $2100 back so from now on i format my pc every2-3 months to be safe also the bank call me if any weird spending occurs (which is mainly me lately going to weird place buying paint ect )

Thread Starter
thank you all for the replies.

as for reformating the computers. do i need to reformat all the computers in my home? or the ones that i've used associated with the accounts

also, i'm not sure if this'll help but the hackers/fraud people called my home phone several times with different numbers ranging all the way to international formats.

am i looking into needing to change my phone number as well? seems like they wanted to verify if someone was at home before doing this wire transfer.

In all honesty, that sounds a bit more involved than a simple attack. In any case, they have your phone number, your address and your banking information. They aren't going to access anything via the phone number or address that they can't get free and legal. However to me, the fact that they called you AND wired money from your account is a bit disconcerting. I can't think of a good reason to verify someone's physical location when silently wiring money from an account.

Did you talk to them? Got enemies?

You may be better off contacting the police on this one.

Well personally, if I was you I would change everything that can be changed. Because if the bank does get your money back(which they most likely will), then you have the pissed off hacker(s) that have your phone number and ip(if you didn't change them) to deal with. Like I said before, better safe than sorry! Good luck, OP.
