New Build, loads of money!

Thread Starter
Hello once again OCN!

As the lovely military person that I am, I have some cash laying around and want to build a new rig. Keeping it simple, I like multimonitor setups, am a fan of Intel Processors and ATI graphic cards. Though, my old rig was built last year, I am not familiar with the new i5 and i7 2500k and 2600k chips nor sandy bridge but have heard to get them if I am going to be multitasking.

The system will be mainly used for gaming but I will be getting a DSLR camera for photography, I am a video editor, as well as love watching my blu-ray movies. If you all have suggestions please give them since I am behind the curve at the moment. The only thing people have suggested to me is to get an i7 for the additional 100$ish and to get a 6790 ATI for eyefinity support with my multi-monitor setup. Thinking of getting 2 more Samung 24" HD monitors since I already have one but open to more suggestions.

P.S. Sorry if this is the wrong thread! ><;

1T HDD at 7200RPM (10k RPM would be better) for data
Sony BlueRay Optical Drive
two 6950s would be more than enough

for a start

Derrrr?

2600K + Sabertooth P67 maybe.

But those are both pretty overkill depending on the situation.

@OP: What, other than video/photo editing, will you be using your PC for? Any gaming?

Thank you!!! I'm getting fed up of people recommending 2600k for gaming.
Yes it's the top spec SB atm but it's common knowledge that 2500k is the prefered chip for gaming, and in some cases is better than the 2600k for games.

If you're going to be doing rendering and heavy video editing then get the 2600k, if its only basic editing etc, 2500k will be plenty.

i'll work on a spec and get back to you

Much love ,

Tigs

yea i guess your right, gaming doesn't really need the extra HT

Don't get me wrong, if you've got the excess monies, and you do do heavy video editing, then get the 2600k, I'd love one .

But it's quite often overkill and people forget how absurdly well powered the humble 2500k is
