Question - 1 Big res for 2 pumps

Thread Starter
I have a nice big waterfall res from CyberDruid, can I use that 1 Res run a Y like this,
and use 2 pumps with the one res? If so does anyone have any photos of their loops doing this?

You want pumps and your lines in serial... not parallel.

Res don't add that much restriction.
Once again...

I assume you mean to have another Y fitting after the pumps to rejoin the water flow? Or do you mean you want to run two seperate loops from the single res?

Running 2 pumps in series will give better results.

You are correct Glancey with your second statement.

I want to use 1 large res, 2 pumps on different loops, just the pumps share the Waterfall Res.

Well as long as the output from the res is lower than the input so both loops have the same equivalent pressure/ability to draw water from the res at the same rate that should work just fine. Pics when done plz.

Is there a point to this though since the water will be shared?

b/c the res holds about a gallon of water about 10x's what most res holds, so I feel it will be plenty of size (volume) and if I can use 1 res that would be awesome

You may need a larger outlet on your res so that each pump can suck enough water without one carrying more load than the other. If you had two outlets in your res it would be the best...

One RES can feed two DDC-1 pumps easily for two loops. The wisdom you will need is the return lines going to the RES to avoid turbulence and the RES has to be big enough to constantly feed two pumps drawing coolant.

My loop has a 1-gallon glass pickle jar with two pumps drawing from it. The two loops run fine with such a large RES.
