[WSGF] Blizzard Confirms No Eyefinity/Surround for Diablo III - Page 11

Sucks for people who were hoping for it to work out for them...

I could care less personally... I don't have Eyefinity, and won't for a few years yet.

Those guys might have been less then serious, but some of us do stick to our words...I didn't get into Global Agenda (despite the fact that it looks promising) because they said no to Eyefinity. I didn't get into SC2 because they said no to Eyefinity (and even though I've heard they support it now, I won't purchase it because its the principle of the thing). I played Diablo 3 at Blizzcon 2009, and was looking forward to it...but now, I won't be buying it, because I'd rather support game companies that support me, and what I want to do with my system.

I imagine around 99% of the complainers on this game never even played the original, and just talk about it so they can fit in with the hardcore guys. Seriously, does anybody remember the old school Fallout dudes *****ing about Fallout 3? Does anybody really care what they say anymore, given how the game actually turned out?

Yeah, those couple dozen crybabies are really adding up. They might even break into the triple digits in the coming weeks, which will definitely put a damper on the 10 MILLION copies Blizzard will probably sell worldwide.

Remember: Forum posters ALWAYS speak for the common man, just like United States Government totally does what its constituents wants.

Pass.
Wow, the hate flowing from folks on these things is just...well let's just say only internet nerds would come up with this stuff.

1. There were never any LEGAL mods for D2 via B.net. Single player received some nice ones of course, which helped the longevity of the game to an extent, but the vast majority of players wanted to be on B.net. So pretty meaningless for 99% of Blizzard buyers.

2. The four people who want this need to go outside anyway. J/k, I do actually have a triple monitor setup, but frankly I'd be a little peeved (and a mite surprised) if D3 doesn't feature some form of a 'Fog of War' system. Nothing like leaving on a pair of monitors that have nothing to show. Al Gore would find you, and he might even touch you with his "Nobel Prize" for such wasteful behavior!

3/4. The vast majority of people want to play online anyway. That said, I see little reason to neuter the game for those who just want to play around. It is an unfortunate thing that companies simply expect all consumers to have an internet connection 24/7. One of my favorite games ever (Titan Quest) was only played in single player mode and I loved it.

On that note, Torchlight is crap compared to Titan Quest. I can't believe the fellation TL seems to get while a truly great game is just forgotten. I'm just thankful those guys are working on their own thing, even if it is going to take years...

So I guess I'm in agreement with you on that (dang) though it will hardly affect my purchase since I only rock Diablo online, as it should be.

5. "Pay2Win" has been around since the dawn days of D2, it just wasn't legal. You know how many people outside of forced laborers found more than a handful of high level runes without botting? I'll answer for you: zero. Prior to 1.13 (when drop rates were dramatically adjusted) the chances of a Ber dropping were 1 in 13,500. Higher runes were even harder to find. You know why you could put together such beautiful armor and weapons? Because of other botters, dupers, and 'farmers' flooding the market with enough of them to actually allow normal players access to them. Even still, the people who bought duped runes did you a massive favor because they'd go and trade high level runes for stupid crap, even making them more available.

Whether you like it or not, that is a definite need in a game when the highest level runes take 10,000+ drops to acquire, much less the half dozen or more you'd need to completely outfit your character with the absolute best gear. Making it legit makes it safer for those casual players to do, and still drives down the trade value for the more 'hardcore' guys as well.

Too true, unfortunately.

I couldn't help but chuckle a bit with everyone complaining that someone with 3 displays would have an unfair advantage.

You're not going to be loose because a guy has 2 more screens than you, you're going to loose because he's dumped a bunch of cash on the $ auction house.

You maybe right about that I'm not sure. I thought it was just illegal to use any mods when using battle.net. I maybe wrong as I said. However, that wasn't what I used them for believe it or not. Whether it was Median or Back to Hellfire. I sincerely enjoyed D2 in single player. It was a great hack and slash RPG.

Additionally you 99% statistic is a empty guess. Everyone of the people I played D2 with employed some mod at some time or another. Same for Oblivion and many other games. Mods make games better and improve the game in ways developers simply don't. Whether it is additional content or texture redesigns they're a resource that I'm sad to see go. I can certainly understand you don't feel that way but I would counter that your in the minority if you don't enjoy mods.

Well I'm sure I can't comment on what that nutter Al Gore may or may not do. However again your statistic is wrong. The increase in the number of PC gamers utilizing Eyefinity/Surround is easily visible on forums like widescreengamingforum. Fairly certain people using multiple monitors is a bit more than 4.

That myth being dispelled, lets look at your next point (that may have sounded rude, I'm not really certain how to rephrase it. Bedtime is fast approaching and I actually liked that you took the time to address all my points and want to return the favor). I agree with your FoW point, as I would be dissapointed if D3 didn't implement it. However FoW doesn't mean the map has to disappear when you walk out of you FoV. May as well mean just that the previous section of the map goes dark and you can no longer see any mobs or loot you left on the floor. I really don't see how FoW is an arguement to preclude Eyefinity/Surround support anymore than I can see how a fixed isometric camera view is. All sorts of use could be gained by utilizing the other 2 screens whether it was just shifting your stat bars or the ability to leave your backpack or character stats up. I see it as a step backwards that games like WoW and SC2 allow it when D3 will not.

Granted. I don't know where I would be without internet. I leech all sorts of info off the web whether it is google' news page or this forum. And as I play several MMO's, I would be sad without a connection. That being said you hit the nail on the head about the game being neutered. It destroys single player for me and a great many others who were hoping to spend some time with this title when flying for business or just on vacation at the lake. I applaud the attempt to eliminate piracy and hacking, I just despise the fact it does so at the cost of functionality.

I don't agree that a game like Diablo should be forced to 'rock online,' as you put it. However you absolutely right that the online features are a fantastic thing and the series wouldn't be the same without it. And more power to you for still wanting the game. I know a lot of others will too. For the reasons I've listed above, it won't be my choice. I'll take T2 over this any day.

I'm sure the ignorant people will continue to flame and post various forms of, "Umad Bro?" all over these forums to the people rejecting Blizz's current course with the Diablo franchise. And I understand your thoughts on the Pay2Win system. I just don't agree.

You see I am a member of the disgruntled old fan base. And I'll vote with my wallet of course. But I also certainly enjoy talking to people who are either like minded or intelligent enough to actually debate the points the we are objecting to rather than most of the drivel the fanbois have tossed out in this thread. Thus the posts that myself and other have put up. I certainly think it is great that Blizz is trying to progress forward with D3, I just hate seeing it at the cost of the things I enjoyed in D2. Lack of LAN I can put aside since I could always use WiFi for MP with friends. Lack of single player? Not so much. Lack of mods? No thanks. And the Pay2Win store sealed the deal.

I've seen the arguments people make on here about D2 items and characters being sold all over the internet and it's true. That doesn't make it right. And Blizzard rolled out the red carpet to that cesspool with the argument, "If we can't beat 'em, may as well get our 10%." Pathetic.

See the above. I don't really mind it taking me an indefinable period of time to land the item I've been so diligently farming. And you are right that gold farmers aren't going anywhere and have been around for ages. What I don't like is Blizzard swapping the approach from banning those players and instead jumping into bed with them for their cut. Screams greed. I can admire their business savvy and I'm sure it will net them a healthy profit, but not from me. It would have been one thing if it was a system like Eve Online, but the ability to purchase any item based off the size of one's credit card makes it less a game to me. Just my two cents.
