I don't have an issue of how games are developed today, but I do prefer the top down approach.
I have an issue of how devs try to market polished console based games as PC focused.

Even worse.

Depends on what you define as the 'top'. If you're talking about profits than they are using the top-down approach most often, by giving the most attention to consoles and the least to the PC. If you mean hardware then yes, most of us with PCs would prefer that, but it just doesn't make as much sense from a business standpoint.

How am I trying to "spin some minor tid-bit of information", when I'm clearly stating in the first sentence that that is my opinion based on the sensation I got from what I read ? Please don't distort what I said. My opinion may be wrong, but I'm not trying to pass an opinion for fact.
Just read Lordikon's posts please. You make it sound like they've just developed this "for the PC" title and are still polishing the turd that is the console version. I seriously doubt that's how the development went.

Anywho, I get the "sensation" that this game is going to be boring. DO NOT WANT.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't Carmack say that with his new texture system they hit the size limit on console, whereas with higher end pcs they get to push things a bit further?

Carmack is probably the most technically adept person in the industry, I'm pretty sure the pc version will be good.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with you assuming things, not to say that I actually agree with you on the assumption (I don't), but I don't see why people are making such a big deal about it.

It may still be a great game. I'm one of the first guys to lament the afterthought that the PC seems to be so often but there are still plenty of good multi-platform titles. Once you fix the aim assist in Borderlands it is a pretty fun little shooter, although it does lack depth.

Me neither, but whatever, some people just like to find trouble where there is none. I just stated my opinion that, based on the article it seemed to me that they had the PC version running better already, and the console still needed polishing. I based that opinion on the fact that they mentioned that most of the game will have to be read from the disc on a console and, I suspect also because of framebuffer issues (size) the textures are loaded in a different manner, which needs optmizing, so it doesn't look so bad with textures which are more or less distant being loaded too late. From this paragraph it seems they clearly don't have this problem with the PC, but they left that do be resolved now for the consoles.

Quote:
"[Console is] different to PC in that most of the data is read from the disc; we have the texture page in the texture cache. At times you will see some stuff in the distance loading in... of course, John [Carmack] is working on getting that as final as possible."

I'll play the game on PC w/ my 360 pad, only because of the racing/vehicle combat.. The game is definately built around consoles, but it'll still run flawlessly on PC.
