G700 opinions? - Page 2

All laser mice have inherent accel that can't be turned off. Same with G700. But if FPS isn't your main focus it won't make much of a diffference. Might be good in MMOs with its buttons. Wireless can only cause hassles though.

Will you stop telling that over and over again. It's not true and only adns-9500 has this acceleration problem.

My previous G700 had a coating flaking problem but it seems that they fixed that with a rougher coating in a new revision. The scrollwheel however is plated with some sort of brownish nickel that flakes after a month of use (already is happening with my replacement), so they need to get that sorted out.
Hmm... most of the things sound good about this mouse, except for the flaking and the acceleration that was mentioned. How bad is the acceleration though? This is something I have never used, so how will it affect me while playing FPS?

Depends. Some people don't notice it at all and to others like myself find it very obvious.

Depends on the games you play as well. You'll notice it when you play games like CSS, flick shots will most likely suffer as well as overall accuracy or even consistency of accuracy.

If you use the mouse w/ a hard mouse pad the acceleration issue is reduced.

Wireless, the G700 is okay. You could do with replacing the cable with a thinner one if you get it.
Personally, I prefer the G500 to the G700 wired, the G700 pulls ahead when I use it wirelessly because the cable really is terrible.

I prefer my MX518 to both of the others, I sold my G500 and I gave the G700 to my brother as he needed a mouse.
Honestly I don't think it's worth what it costs but you should try one if possible, you might like it more than I do.

Edit: You asked about acceleration, it's the thing that killed the mouse for me.
You mightn't notice it but it got on my nerves all the time.
The crappy cable isn't a big problem with the wireless to fall back on. It never dropped or lagged like my other wireless mice and that bit really impressed me.
The macros and buttons are also handy and you can remove the battery with the cable in to get a lighter mouse.
If I could have a thinner cable, remove the battery and no acceleration there'd be no downsides.
