OCZ and Corsair would be the two biggest vendors using that controller. All you have to do is visit their support forums and see the problems. I was curious to see how Patriot would make out using the same controller in their drives and now I've been seeing some people report the exact same problem. Since Adata uses the same controller, if the problems were solved, the others would have had it solved with a firmware update already.

For instance, OCZ released the Vertex 3 with 2.02 firmware. In the last 3 months we've seen 2.08, 2.09 and 2.11 released trying to solve problems. A bunch of people that finally became stable with 2.09 had the problem return with 2.11 firmware.

The problem itself manifests as the screen freezes and you can move your mouse but nothing else. After a minute or so, bsod appears and the computer restarts itself. Upon restart, the boot drive is missing. You have to shut the computer down and then restart and it finally reappears. It's happened to me while gaming, browsing the net and the system just idling.

This forum itself has more than a couple threads on the issue from various users.

Yeah, Crucial seems to be the way to go. I kind of wish I hadn't sold my C300.

Thread Starter
Just in case anyone wanted to know.

This SSD is blisteringly fast, easily beating out a crucial M4, and just as a good if not better than a Vertex 3.

BUT. This SSD is PLAGUED, with huge defects. Windows will not go a few hours or at times a few minutes without freezing or giving me a BSOD. And apparently looking from the reviews on newegg I'm not the only one with this problem. I jumped for this new SSD before any reviews were out, and now I regret it.

I've had this drive for over a month, and it is super fast. I haven't had the issues that others are talking about. I run an older system, Pentium D 3Ghz, Abit AW8 motherboard, 2gb ram. I installed Windows 7x64 on it. Works great, boots super fast, programs load almost immediately. It is faster at loading Windows and all my programs than my Intel i5. Maybe somehow the Sandforce controller issue doesn't effect older chipsets?
