how to brick a gigabyte mobo?

Thread Starter
My mother board is slowly dying and taking components with it. It has killed three network cards and a sound card, 3/4 usb ports on the mobo don't work along with the on board video and only one sata ports is working, the on board sound and Ethernet also don't work. I'm actually so scared of it frying stuff that i took out my 470 and put in a old G210. My dad has basically said i can only replace a part when it dies, and seeing as he is the one with the credit card i cant argue much.

So that gets to the actual point of the post how can i brick my mobo so i have an reason to get a new one?

EDIT: this is a post i made farther down

Just thought of this, I think I'm going to leave it how it is and hope it kills the processor also so i can go either bulldozer or sandy bridge. It seems to kill stuff when gaming.

Upgrade Tactic: Avoid gaming until week before bulldozer is supposed to release then prime while gaming for the whole week in an effort to kill it.

You can't from a legal standpoint. *fraud is fraud
And you're going to hear more of the same from other posters.

Flash a bios not meant for it

As far as I can tell, that board is already dead

How about instead of actually breaking it you just make it look broken?

How savvy is your dad? Try writing a bios to it and powering off mid-write. Or you could just pull an inconspicuous chip off of the board. Lots of ways you could 'brick' it, but it might be easier to just kill it physically.

Well...if it is actually frying other components and USB slots and SATA ports are dying on it...it is broken.

If you need to finish the job just short a couple capacitors with a paperclip or do a bios flash and pull the power plug in the middle. Killing it with fire ussually works too.

It is easy to break stuff...keeping it going is the hard part.

This. I actually didn't do a BIOS flash because I was scared that it was going to brick.

Failed BIOS update.

Either update it to a completely wrong firmware or yank the plug in the middle of the update.

Or you could simply snap it in half loolol
