Antivirus will not protect you. Don't even bother. Do you trust that they will catch 100% of all viruses you might download?

Use Comodo Internet Security for the HIPS or PCTools Threatfire or Outpost Security Suite Free for the proactive security.

I used to use MSE but I had some stuff sneak by it so I looked for another free alternative using the av-comparatives site and found that Avast ranked pretty high so I went with Avast.

As for Kaspersky, I used it for 2 or 3 years and never once had a problem with it. Ever.
