ASUS VS248H-P My Thoughts

Ok first off let me start off by saying this monitor has a phenomenal picture. It looks spectacular. There is no blacklight bleeding and it is very uniform from what I can see. It looks great in person and also looks wonderful in games.(So far I have only played Bad Company 2 on it)

Now on to the cons. This monitor does indeed have this "ghosting" issue people keep talking about on the VE series monitors. What I am seeing is a bright trail following certain darker colored objects. Is it a deal breaker? For me no it is not. I am a very picky person and I notice every little flaw and honestly this doesn't bother me. The only time I can even see it is if I take a browser window and start dragging it around like mad and then I still haft to look closely. I full well expected this issue to drive me mad, but to be honest I can live with it. Especially considering how great this monitor looks.

Anyway that is my review and you can make your own decision. If you have any questions just let me know.

Update: Ok I have put some time on BC2 on this monitor and I gotta say this thing is absolutely amazing. The picture in that game is absolutely night and day compared to my old HP W2207H. I am absolutely in love with this monitor.

I really enjoyed your review but the ghosting issue has me second guessing this monitor. I am trying to decide between this and the vw246h, which has a pretty amazing picture. The main advantages I'm seeing is this monitor uses less energy, and LED backlights are supposed to be better to stare at for long periods. Have you played any other games? That will be my primary focus. Any ghosting issues in games?

I felt the same way as you. I wanted the VE Asus 24" monitor. It was on sale for $170, but I was worried about the ghosting issue. So I paid an extra $40 to get the VS series because there was currently no complaints about ghosting. Now I know why. The ghosting is really not noticeable under normal use. I have never seen it at all in games.(Also on the VE series everybody else said the same thing) The only time I see it is when I grab a window and start dragging it around really fast. But to each their own. For me this monitor looks amazing enough for me to overlook this issue which I consider to be very minor.

I hate the fact that Samsung has so many different series and fails to show what each means...VE vs VS..uhh..hmm lol! I am "hoping" to upgrade to dual VS248H-P's soon. Hate having mismatched monitors and one is better than the other..lol

Well, I ordered this monitor yesterday. My girlfriend just bought a vw246h the weekend before, and let me use it for a few days (It's phenomenal). I'll be able to compare them side by side when it gets here, and will post what I think about Asus' top 24 inch non-led vs this asus 24 inch LED backlit display.

Yah, I'm going to have to check into Neweggs return policy. If the VS24h-P doesn't look as good to me I'm going to return it for the VW246H. I already know that's a great monitor, I really just want the VS to look equivalent and be easier on eye strain.

It's still around and has over 1k 5 star ratings on new egg for a reason tho, its a good looking solid monitor, especially for that price.

Let us know what you think about the VS monitor when you get it in. Also make sure to check and see if the ghosting bothers you. For me I know it doesn't at all. But it is always nice for everybody else to have a second opinion on that matter.
