ASUS VS248H-P My Thoughts - Page 4

I don't have the Asus VS248H-P, just the VS248H. After I download the ICC profile from that site, which mode do you guys thinks looks the best? Standard, Game, OR theater? After downloading the ICC profile.

If you're using somebody's ICC profile and want to get results similar to them, you want to use the hardware settings they used as well (maybe not necessarily brightness, but everything else for sure).

Set standard mode, 47 brightness, 80 contrast, red at 100, green at 75, and blue at 88.

Certainly you can try mucking around for yourself, but modes other than standard and maybe sRGB tend to have issues one way or another. They may be useful for some things, but probably they aren't what you want for general use. See the color bars in my above link, using the different modes.

Thankjjs. Although after I downloaded that profile and appliooed those settings I don't think it looks good, the colors are all washed out. I know thats what they recommend but I don't see it being good....thanks though!

It's not so much what they recommend but what's more accurate to actual colors and thus what you're supposed to be seeing. I thought typical gamers on hardware sites love photo-realistic graphics? rolleyes.gif

j/k use whatever you want obviously.

Well, when I use their hardware settings with the ICC profile, everything looks really washed out, and there is a lot of red.

Meh I don't really care about "accurate" colors personally. I adjust my monitor based on what looks good to me.

After playing around with all kinds of settings, i have to agree with this. Standard mode, with the above settings looks WAY more realistic than any of the other presets.
I set my brightness to 60
Trace free to 60
Everything else like the settings above. Most realistic, NOT washed out, not crazy bright.
Looks great in game play.

Thanks for the help guys.

I just put in my order for 3 of these monitors. Can't wait to see them in surround mode!
I have this monitor, using the bestgamignmonitor.com settings and ICC profile. HD textures in Skryim look blurry as soon as I move, and it looks awful when I move a window around at any speed. Trace free is 80, which produces slight ghosting when moving browser windows around (so not enough to care). Lowering it removes ghosting completely, but increases the blurriness problem with any motion. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a setting I've managed to mess up?

Using Powercolor HD 6850, CAP 11.6 (afraid to upgrade so far because of issues with Skryim).

Just wanted to say thanks for the great posts regarding this monitor. I'm also considering buying two of these for side by side display. I noticed that most people are using it for gaming and I read a lot of comments about the ghosting issue. I would like to ask something slightly different though.

I'm a programmer and will mostly be using it for coding, and some multi media like video editing. I'm looking for sharp text, especially since my eyes aren't what they used to be. I'm a very picky person as I'm sure most of you are, so what are your thought on this being SHARP as can be for hours of coding.

Is it fatiguing to look at for a long periods. Are the colors true to life for video editing. How do you feel out picture quality and washout?

Thanks for any advice in advance.
