I feel like OCing my current rig. Any help on where to start?

I am not sure what values I should add to some options. The only things I changed are CPU Voltage (still trying voltages wondering if it will stabilize and set the rams voltage to 1.50 that its their actual voltage. The FSB Frequency is to 400 to make it 3.6 and the ram is at 1353. Also DRAM command rate is at 2N. There is also this new CPU PPL Voltage that I have not seen before but i leave it to auto like i always leave the voltages except CPU and RAM.

all you need to do for light oc on that cpu is turn up vcore. no more than 1.4 and crank that fsb boiii!

worry about ram speed later. very hard to oc ram and cpu at the same time.

Ok just found something that worked. 3.45GHz for now

FSB Strap to North Bridge: 400FSB
FSB Frequency 430FSB (8x mult)
DRAM Frequency: 1290 (actual 1333)
DRAM Command rate 1N
Ram clocks set to manual to put them to their original 9-9-9-24 cause auto lowered them
CPU Voltage 1.30000 (1.2125v on Coretemp and 1.260 (idle), 1.248 (load) on CPU-Z)
Dram voltage set to 1.50 (default) to keep it from going higher
Temps are 40ish when idle and up to 62C at full load.

Going any lower on CPU volt gives me the blue screen after some moments on Prime95.

I would if i could. Actually 3.6 would be great. I went up to 3.5 now and it seems pretty stable with prime95. I put voltage to 1.35 (Core Temp 1.2125, CPUZ 1.296) and the temp is 40ish on idle and 66C tops on full load. Lets see a bit higher. And I am not sure if my Mobo can let the CPU go as high as 3.8 ^^;;;

Scratch that after about 10 minutes it crashed. Going to raise volt. 1.3750 (1.312-1.3250 on CPU-Z) and it looks fine. I am gonna try going higher but i doubt i will get 3.8 with 1.40

How much should I put it at?

and it seems not even getting higher voltage on core helps with 3.5

Mine did this to, I dropped RAM speeds to eliminate that as a possibility, then three to four notches higher from stock NB voltages and I was cooking again.

Nope Nada. I raised NB up to 1.63 and tried ram on the lowest fsb and 2-3 higher that the lowest ones. Even if it boots prime95 crashes it if its 3.5 and over. oh and CPU Core was up to 1.40

Well I am gonna give up at 3.45 with 1.30 Vcore (1.248 on cpu-z) and be happy with it too. I bet it has to do with the revision of my Q9400. At least i was lucky wioth me E5200 while a friend of mine that had a different revision with exactly the same parts as i did (yes both ram and mobo since I told him what to get) never got over 3.4 with his oc while i got 4ghz stable but too hot and dropped it to 3.8 cause it was much cooler. Aw well anywayz thanks for lal the help. Have a great day.
