Hey hey, time to squeeze some extra performance!

Hi there,

I've recently built up this new workstation just in time to start my final year studying CGI 3D Modelling and Animation at Bournemouth Uni (UK). I will be using Autodesk Maya for pretty much the whole year.

I'm quite excited to start overclocking this i5 'Unlocked & Unleashed' little number. I'm going to start by working up to 4.5Ghz, but i'm not so sure about going over that just to avoid the risk of instability..

If the max multiplier of this chip is 56x (If in luck) which equals 5.6Ghz.. then this is quite a blinder!!

Raaaarrr! EXCITEMENT!!!!!

Welcome! You'll maybe get a 4.8GHZ oc with decent temps, unless you have wc. If that's your case then go for it

Ahhh thanks for the advice! Upon visual inspection of the Intel stock fan the metal blades looked quite promising to provide good airflow. I know the sticky says that no questions are allowed in these newbie posts.. but what would you recommend?

Depends on your budget really. A coolermaster hyper 212+ is a really good budget cooler that will get you to 4.5ghz or on the other scale you have the Thermalright silver arrow or Noctua DH14 which will get you higher OC but cost significantly more.

If your going to go for the all in one watercool kits, dont go for the budget version, go h70 or h100, you will just be dissapointed in the h50
