upgraded my pc - internet wifi doesn't work any longer...?

I'm just done building my new pc and launched it today for the first time and it works fine. Got a - major - problem though : I can't connect to the internet anymore. Been trying the whole afternoon to fix this, to no end.

Some basic info :
There's 3 pcs at home, they all connect to the internet through a modem/router belkin n wireless.

Here's the basic pc setup :
a) old laptop / windows xp 32 bits, connecting to internet through the belkin wifi router thanks to an internal wifi card. Works fine.
b) desktop pc/windows xp sp3 32 bits , connecting to internet through the belkin wifi router thanks to a D-link usb nano card. That's the one I'm using now. Works.
c) desktop pc - the new gear (mobo is Asus P8H61evo, processor is intel 2400) - windows 7 home premium 64 bits, connecting to the belkin through a D-link usb nano card (the same usb wifi card as in b), I just switch it from pc to pc whenever needed)

c) does not work. I thought it might be due to win 7 being 64bits (not being a techie, I just imagined that out of the blue), so this afternoon i reinstalled my old vista 32 bits, which used to work with the same pc with the old mobo+old processor, but now even vista does not access internet anymore so I guess it's modem or mobo related (?).

What goes wrong, to be more specific, is that the usb wifi key connects to the modem/router, but it ends there, it doesn't connect to the internet. I double-checked through the modem control panel, logging 2 pc's at the same time (namely a) and c)) and they both appear in the model control panel; under DHCP as they should. But only one of them gets access to the internet. The other one, nada, nothing. If I ask windows to try and repair the connection, it tells me the "DNS cannot be reached" or sthg similar . Unfortunately my knowledge of connectivity ends there.

I tried several remedies I could find through some googling the error message troubleshoot: I updated the latest wifi usb key drivers, I installed the new mobo chipset dvd, I tried connecting the pc directly through ethernet/cable, I manually modified the primary and secondary DNS to openDNS, and did some basic cmd manips I could find through googling "win 7 connects to the modem but not to the internet" but so far nothing worked....

Any clue in which direction I should go to try and fix this ? Could it be modem related (should I reset it ? Modify date manually ?) ? Call my ISP ? Could it be motherboard issue (do I need to install any mobo driver to access the internet through a usb key ? was the install DVD provided incomplete) ? Should I check if any specific piece of hardware is not working properly (through the windows system configuration) ? Anything else ? If you got tips I'm all ears.

If you got tips about the internet, please let me know, I got this feeling it might keep me uber busy tomorrow. Thanks!

Could you run ipconfig /all from the problem computer when you can access the modem, but not the internet, and post it here? Might shed some light on this.

From the top of my head, I can imagine it being some sort of logical error. Maybe IP address conflict or wrong config etc.

It's fixed.
No idea why though.
What I did yesterday when it didn't work was :
a)install windows
b)install my wifi usb driver - but the install assistant never went further than the first screen before it shut down itself.
c)realize the driver was pre-windows 7 and downloaded the latest version

What I did today was the same thing, skipping b)

Something happened there, maybe installing an old driver messed with the whole thing. Or ISP play with DNS during the night (some batch job of some sort)?

Anyhow, it works, hopefully it keeps on doing so.
Thanks for the help though (I had tried ipconfig /all and was about to send it to you when i realized the whole thing worked).

Cheers,
D

Alright, nice to see it works again. Lets hope it stays that way!
