Me having the WASD Keyboard is for the testing reasons and I plan to be using it all August (if I go insane from the clicks I demand a sammich for my troubles. )

People tend to think, that for some reason, Filco's had no issues; which isn't true. The Majestouch 1's had an issue that we didn't find out about till later (though it shouldn't effect those with properly functioning boards right now) and the Majestouch 2 boards have an issue where some emit a sharp ping sound.

I'm not saying Filco's are bad but saying the build quality is better just isn't a fact as there's no way to base the filco's build being better.

On tangible aspects the WASD Keyboard is better than the Filco. In terms of soldering & PCB quality they are the same but the WASD keyboard harder to take apart due to the more heavy duty body construction and it's made of a thicker plastic which also helps it.

Those are tangible aspects to judge the merit on.
EK who brought FILCOs to the US tested and filtered out all of the bad boards giving FILCO a very solid and undeserved name to American consumers.

I guess that's true in terms of build quality, but like I said, you've got to agree with me this is meant to cater to those that own a G15/G110/Eclipse (those types of users) and not those who own a Filco / HHKB.

An interesting fact was that Diatec usually didn't make Blue Cherry Filcos (except for special edition ones) due to QA problems with the switches, and only started continious production on request from EK. Apparently they had to have extra testing in place for their Blue Cherry keyboards because of the higher than average amount of duds they get from Costar.

Do I really have to agree with you? I haven't seen a convincing case as of yet.

Leopolds are guaranteed ping free or your money back.

Plus 18KRO over USB on ALL OS's FTW!

Reminds me of my Lego collection. If I look at it and squint I see a naked woman.

Yes, but the honesty on their part gives them a very good credibility in my mind.

Don't see why it's undeserved. If all the bad boards were filtered out for the US product release then a good reputation is well deserved. Means that the US boards are pretty much guaranteed to be good, which certainly merits a good rep. Maybe not outside the US, but here in the States, Filcos good name is well deserved.

Except Elite Keyboards doesn't filter anymore and now people are buying on Ebay & Amazon from companies like Keyboard Co.

Which isn't a bad company, but they don't filter the boards state side. Which gives you a higher chance of a bad product then if you were to buy from Elite Keyboards.

Um what? EK took the time to test out all of the imported FILCOs and to send in complains to push for changes so that it receives reputation that it has today. EK is what should have a well deserved name.

A few days ago I compared WASD and Filco side-by-side. You will not notice a Filco being built like a tank when it is sitting next to a WASD. They will be very similar, though the cases are constructed differently. Neither will scream "THE BEST" or "CRAP" when compared. Again, very similar. There will be one or two detail items that you will like one over the other, that will make the sale. Make no mistake, WASD holds its own, and then some. Plus, there are other factors besides just the board itself to consider...cost, service, customizing....

This is a thread I started on GH about the WASD with some pics...others are chiming in now that they are buying and receiving their boards.
