Now that I think about it, I don't think these were even released. Ignore me tongue.gif

The CPUs with a T at the end are the Thubans, 1055T, 1075T, 1090T, 1100T... they have been out for quite a while. You can't unlock a Thuban to anything, they are already the highest chip. So you were wrong, they are the only chips NOT to be able to unlock.

EDIT
Here is an AMD Phenom II X4 955 for $119.99 with free shipping.

My brothers both have this processor and I'm not pleased with it...It's operating temps get up there even without an OC, my old II X2 555 unlocked to a Quad core somehow seems to have better performance and lower temps?

However with my new 990FX Board that CPU wouldn't unlock and stay stable anymore but that's a different story in a different thread so---> offtopic.gif

the 640 does not have any cores to unlock, but it says on that list that it may have L3 cache to unlock

No. He is right. Those chips are OEM quad core. Example Phenom II X4 960T. Those are the ones that can unlock to 6 cores.

Look towards the bottom of the list and look a t the AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus.

It says it has a chance to unlock to a Penta/Hexa core.

Please see "Only x4 640 with part number ADX640WFK42GR "

If you have that PN, it means that it is a Thuban chip and can be unlocked.

There ware actually quad OEM CPUs like the 960T that unlocked to x6. Maybe do some research before you act like a jerk.

I see it tongue.gif
Do you think I should try anyhow? Or could anyone recommend a better cpu than the 955 BE?

I'm no stranger to Overclocking and I enjoy it, so that's not a problem.

There are some Phenom II x4 960T on ebay, but they are like $172 and not worth it.

First, what the hell do you mean by "Operation"??

Second, Athlon x4 have 4 cores. You can't unlock it to 6, because it doesn't have 6.
Phenom x4 will be only about 10% faster than Athlon x4, so upgrade to that is useless.

Not at all, my 955 is miles ahead in everything compared to my 635. stock clocked (3.2GHz) the phenom beat my athlon(overclocked at 3.6GHz) in everything, 4GHz flies through everything on my phenom.

If you REALLY need or want the extra power, go for it, as long as you're willing to spend money again.
