[Vortez] NVIDIA to Ship Kepler GPUs This Year

Quote:
NVIDIA are aiming to have their next-generation GPU, code named 'Kepler' to be shipped out by 2011 end. While this may not mean that there will be cards on the market to buy this year, it does mean however that they will be available sometime Q1 2012. Kepler is predicted to have 3x the performance per watt of Fermi in double precision floating points. This new architecture is expected to bring many benefits from improved GPGPU and easier programmability for developers.

From the article:

However, Malachowsky was careful with his wording, saying only that the parts would begin "shipping" by the end of 2011, and that doesn't necessarily mean you'll be able to purchase one in that window.
Well, I think Q1 2012 is when we will see the full line...

Sorry if this was posted, I looked and did not find anything...

If NV wants to release their new line of GPU's, better do it kinda quickly as BF3 is in 3 months and im sure they would LOVEEEEE to milk it to death with a new gen of cards.

patience

As always, i'll be patient and wait for some benches first.

If the performance difference is not going to be substantial in moving to Kepler from a high-end Fermi, I will probably just wait it out until a Kepler refresh/Maxwell. (Unless my 590 somehow gets destroyed by BF3...that would give me a reason to upgrade).
