Intel build- One last time

Thread Starter
I've done a few threads regarding my new build and I need some final advice before I actually go through with my build. Since I'm done waiting for dullbozer (my new name for bulldozer) I thought I would just go straight to a sandy bridge build. I don't need the build right away but I do need it in time for BF3 and skyrim and I just don't know if Ivy bridge will be out soon enough. I heard rumors of it being released Q1 or Q2 of 2011 which is way too long, and if I started my build on the LGA 1155 platform now, I could just upgrade if I need to next year.

So here is the build I planned and revised many times, please tell me if there's something I should change, thanks!

Core i5 2500k
Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z
Corsair TX750M
Corsair Vengeance 8Gb DDR3 1600
Asus GTX 560ti

The rest of the parts are coming from my sig rig

Looks great.

Go for it!

Why such a ridiculously expensive motherboard for parts that would otherwise seem to be fore normal or even cheap gaming build?

This. 1155 motherboards are supposed to be cheap if you're not gonna go above 5ghz save the money and put it in a gtx 570.

edit: your psu is also overkill if you're not gonna SLI/xfire. Even a 650w is fine for 2 560 ti's

I was thinking the motherboard would give me room for future upgrades but if its really unnecessary to spend that much then I'll pick another one. Hows a GIGABYTE GA-Z68XP-UD3P?

Also for the psu, I need some room for future expansion, is the 750w still overkill? I plan on doing SLI on more powerful cards, I heard Nvidia is going to release something new next year.

Am I jumping the gun with this build? Anyone think my current sig rig could hold out until Ivy? Oh how I hate indecision...

Overkill on the power supply. You can SLI that 560Ti with overclocking headroom on a 650 watt with no problems at all.

Haha I like your sig rig, I loved mass effect and the NZXT phantom styling totally reminds me of the Normandy, its why I bought mine

Back on topic, do you know any speculated release dates for Ivy or Bulldozer?

just get asus p67 pro, its well made, can easily do 5 ghz, and will last a long time and give you a great platform for future ivy bridge chip.

You power supply is fine though, nothing wrong with going a little overboard on power supply, if nothing else, it will keep your power supply fan quieter.

ivy bridge hsould be out be march next year,

bulldozer is early october, but bulldozer will not be good for gaming compared to 2500k. It just wont. Fanboys can flame me, but thats my opinion.

650 watts is "a little overboard"
