Asus LED or LCD?

Thread Starter
I'm having a hard time deciding between these two similar monitors, apparently the only difference is that one is LED and the other LCD. Please help me decide.

I'm planning to play games (BF2, BF3, Witcher 2, Metro) at 1920x1080.

Unless there are more reports of uneven lighting or similar issues with the LED model, I'd go for that. It will probably use less power and I don't believe the LED models dim with age like a standard backlight will.

I've never been impressed with edge lit LEDs and that's what all the cheaper models are. Unless you're talking about a high end LED, I'd rather have an LCD.

LED. Saves money over it's lifespan and is nice and portable due to the light weight.

I personally like the color better compared to LCD.

LED monitors have better contrast, color accuracy, and black levels. There is data to suggest that LED monitors will also last longer. An LED monitor will also use less energy to operate. I have the VE278Q LED monitor and love it!

Having had an Asus LCD and LED, I can honestly say the LED is much better.
First off, its brighter. Second, the colors are crisper and contrast levels are better. Also with the models Ive had the LED has better button layout and they have a more positive feel. The ones on the LCD felt like I was breaking them every time I went to adjust it.
The blacks are better on the LED whereas on the LCD they really looked more gray.
I was really disappointed when I switched from my CRT to the LCD. The colors were horrible in comparison --they looked washed out.
Once I got this LED I was pleasantly surprised as the color saturation levels were really close to my old beloved CRT.
Get the LED, you wont be disappointed.
