[PC MAG] AMD's First Bulldozer Chips Arriving Sept. 26 - Page 4

It has been documented that AMD pushed back the date because they weren't satisfied with the clock speed. Cmon people stop sleeping at the wheel.

I've had this discussion with Seronx, no matter what you say, he is convinced that Bulldozer was never delayed, and that it was never due out in June.

Even if we show him all this evidence, he'll still deny it.

After the financial Analyst Day, John reported on behalf of AMD. This wasn't his opinion.
http://blogs.amd.com/work/2010/11/09...l-analyst-day/

Throughout 2011 MANY sites reported that Bulldozer would be released in June.
http://www.google.com/search?btnG=1&...leased+in+june

After Computex, the delay was confirmed.
http://www.google.com/search?btnG=1&...ldozer+delayed

Here's an image from Gigabyte pointing to the June release as well.

No matter what anyone says, he's still convinced that Bulldozer is not delayed.

The issue is that AMD's PR rep denied the JUNE delay 5 days prior to Computex, and well, we know what was said at Computex.
http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/10...elay-link.html

You have to wonder why AMD would release the motherboards in June, but no CPU's to go with them? Motherboards were ready, Bulldozer wasn't. Simple as that.

Normally, Motherboards and CPU's are released together, not 3 months apart.

Just let it go Usario, most of us know the truth.
Becuase, I know timelines are subject to change and delays do not occur because we say they occur

AMD Official public road map only states 2011
It has not changed, thus publicly there is no delay

The genius of saying that it will be released in late September is that it is quite believable given the delays through the YEARS since it was first mentioned. The more I see, the lower my expectations get. I'm calling that we're going to see high-end Bloomfield-like performance overall with better multitasking. Think 6 core Bloomfield at 3.8 GHz, but with an edge in video encoding and the like with no hyperthreading penalty while gaming for the first bulldozer flagship model. Of course I have nothing to back this up. I just thought I'd get in on the fun with my predictions, and it makes sense to me. If this does indeed launch late this week or early next week, it will be one of the best kept secrets i've ever seen.

I wouldn't put all my faith in this but wouldn't entirely rule it out either. The official statement from AMD is that it was a strategic move so that Llano and Bulldozer would get their own spotlights instead of one stealing from the other... but companies say things all the time to preserve their image, so I wouldn't take that claim as truth without question.

If they say Q2 in their slides at the Financial Analyst Day, then that's the "official public roadmap".

Bulldozer taped out last year....so it couldn't have been delayed long as you say

and the track record for AMD CPU Tape outs are 13-15 months

July-August-September
are the big 3
13-14-15

The Financial Analyst Day is as public as it gets.

Show me a "public" roadmap from late 2010 or early 2011, if you're right.

I'll be very happy for AMD if Bulldozer can match Nehalem core for core, and I think that level of performance IS achievable (although we have no benchmarks to tell for sure). Matching Sandy Bridge core for core is pretty much an impossibility, and I think that most sane people, whether they prefer Intel or AMD, will agree with me on that one.

Count me in on that one. It would be a very nice chip in it can match Nehalem core for core and bring 8 cores to the table. Especially, if it can clock in the 4.4-4.6 GHz range on air.

Though... if it does miss that level of core for core performance then well -- SB-E here I come.

I highly doubt IPC will match Sandy Bridge but the 8 core processors ought to be pretty beastly in multi-threaded tasks. I'm gonna buy one of these and do my own comparisons with SB...

seronx please look up at the facts .... financial analyst day is a public event ... if they showcased a date there there's nothing more official then that ....

and they did announce it a while ago that bulldozer would be in Q2 ... but its been pushed to Q3 due to delays of some sort ... facts over your fiction
