No power at all to PS3

Thread Starter
I had my 80GB PS3 since early 2008. Never any issues with it. I have barely used it for the last few months. Today when trying to turn it on, it was just dead. No red light. No yellow light. No power at all is going to the PS3.

Dead PSU?
Mobo issue?

I opened it up to make sure the connections are all fine (which they seem to be). It's not dusty in there either.

I'm considering buying a PS3 PSU on Ebay or just buying a new PS3 (which I prefer not to have to do...).

Ideas?

PSU is probably dead.

I'd get a new one.

I'm going to try to put in a new PSU (get one from Ebay) and hopefully that will work. I just realized that I can't pull anything off my HDD unless it's pulled from my current dead PS3...

One thing you should try first before buying anything is change the power cord and plug it into a different outlet, I know it sounds stupid but I had a friend who's power cord stopped working and he switched to a spare one he had and it worked.

Did that. Tried a different cord and different outlets.

I'm going to pick up a PSU and Power Switch off of Ebay. Shouldn't cost much (maybe $25 total for both). We'll see how that works thumb.gif

I guess keeping the PS3 on Standby for over 3 years wasn't the best idea in the end.

Just got a replacement PSU. It arrived wet... The bubble wrap was wet as was the outside of the PSU mad.gif

I'm going to leave it out to dry until tomorrow and hopefully it'll be good to go.
