Intel HD3000

Thread Starter
Hi, I just got a macbook pro 13" with an Intel HD 3000 gpu, (don't be hating, I had to get it for school) and I was just curious as to what any of you would recommend for settings to enable/disable in terms of aa/af/textures etc... I believe it has 384mb of vram, which is rather low in comparison to what I'm used to, so if I remember correctly, resolution and textures rely on vram right? Also, It appears to be HORRIBLE at AA... is there anything else that it is particularly bad at that I could disable?

Um what? You cannot play anything on that at all yo. Maybe on the lowest of low settings or indie games but that is really it.

Heh, I have the same one.

I when I play games i just load up with the lowest settings. The game itself looks good, other settings are for eye candy IMO, and on a 1280x800 don't really matter too much. The screen res isn't that great to begin with.

You could boost the vram up by upgrading to 8GB as it shared memory(AFAIK)

Yeah, I game on a GTX 470 with settings max out lol. Going to low seems really bad, but hey, At least you get to game on the go right?

The HD3000 could run bioshock all on high without aa/af of course. TF2 16v16 at choke points gets around 24fps and averages around 30fps... Please don't judge the card from what you think.

the hd3000 isint that bad for intel graphics but you wont be playing much new stuff in high settings portal 2 is probably the most graphics intensive game you could play at higher settings

Yeah, I didn't expect much from this integrated chip, (or a mac in general) but it's pumping out a little more than I expected. One thing that I have found, is especially with source games, capping the fps at 40-45 using an autoexec allows for much more fluid gameplay. oh and the other thing. I screwed with AF settings and did not see the slightest difference in fps. I appreciate everyone's opinions! Keep 'em coming!

Oh, and I appear to get some occasional stuttering in source engine games... A colleague purchased the exact same mac but without osx lion and doesn't have the issue. I'll assume OS issues.
