If you don't live fairly close though, it's almost not worth it with the price of gas.

@OP, Keep checking OC Deals and OC Marketplace. You might find a great deal there!

It's $179.99, but by the time you add sales tax, it's $198 in most states.

I read your OP and expected you to say you didn't see any need to get the 2500k over your 2100, instead you mixed it up on me and said you wanted it!

I didn't see anything there that warranted a switch. :O Seems like your 2100 is performing like a champ!

It looks to me like you are getting very similar performance with the i3. You seem to be fine. As far as i3's go I prefer the first gen ones as they can overclock.

The 2100 can't oc that much.

Ivy bridge is supposedly going to be compatible with socket 1155. You sound like you could stay with your i3 for awhile until ivy is out or the 2500k's possibly drop in price.

Sorry to break it to you but the prices change very little. You'll probably save not much by this time next year so you might as well just buy it now so it won't be outdated later. Look at older Intel's processors, they're still up pretty high compare to the newer and better processors that came out.

Only way intel would cut prices on Sandy Bridge is if bulldozer beat its a$$ but there's a greater chance of winning the powerball then that happening.

Just buy your books. SWTOR isn't going to need an i5 to run well. Save for ivy imo. I'm not even updating my Q6600 and I plan to play SWTOR also. I'm sure it will run great on your i3.
